Zakhava – nine years and a lifetime

Abstract

In the essay about Boris Zakhava, the author details the stages of the creative path of the famous Vakhtangovite, follower, and promoter of the teachings of Yevgeny Bogrotionovich Vakhtangov. Boris Zakhava played a vital role in founding the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater and the Theater School, which later received the name of Boris Shchukin. The author analyzes the methods used by the Vakhtangov Theater School and the formation of the acting training program by Zakhava. Special attention is paid to the directing activities of B.E. Zakhava and the creation, on his initiative, of the directing department at the B.V. Shchukin Theater School.
